On being digitised one’s own self.

costhumb So it’s almost thirty years since I went along to see Elvis Costello and the Attractions playing in Leisureland – September 1984, just after the release of the Goodbye Cruel World album.  I was a stringer for the local paper at the time, writing editorials, feature articles and arts reviews.  So needless to say I took the opportunity to put pen to paper and write the thing up for cash.

Should have remembered that the Advertiser put their archives up online several years ago.  Just this morning I was looking at this site and came across a page dedicated to the same concert I reviewed, with a scan (and transcription) of my old article, as well as a link to the paper’s own archive.

Okay, so one is blowing one’s own trumpet here, but you have to admit that there’s a kind of poetic justice seeing scanners getting scanned themselves.
