“There is only one thing worse than being talked about – and that is not being talked about”

It’s Oscar Wilde’s birthday today, don’t forget.  Not too long ago I scanned some pages from a book by his father, the eminent physician Sir William Wilde (a remarkable man in his own right).  Wilde Senior’s book Lough Corrib, its Shores and its Islands was first published in 1867 – a labour of love dedicated to the lake and countryside where he made his home.
